The historical birth of our nation as influenced by human affairs and human affairs as affected by the events surrounding that birth are how our gifted author and beloved friend, Maxville Burt Williams, chose to tell this story of early Halifax and the American Revolution.

Each year since 1976, Max's child has grown and evolved under his kind and watchful eye. We have sought his council and guidance in its production and have stood straight and proud under his praise. This year, for the first time, we have been forced to raise this child on our own.

Max may no longer be physically among us, but he will forever live in our hearts, our minds, and our souls through his powerful words and beautiful music. The cast and crew of this year's show, along with all those who have produced First For Freedom since 1976, dedicate this season's performances to Maxville Burt Williams.
